We’re including the area between the original Fatimid Cairo, Port Said, Sayyida Zaynab, the Citadel here, and al Azhar park here. This is a very interesting and important part of Cairo, but it has had very little restoration work done. Several groups are working here, especially the Aga Khan, and hopefully any upgrades made here will keep their local communities in mind.
You can access this area from all sides and it’s worth planning at least a few days here.
